67-Year-Old Kerala Man Declared Dead Found Alive on Way to Morgue

In an astonishing incident, a 67-year-old man from Kannur, Kerala, who was declared dead by hospital authorities, was discovered alive while being transported to a mortuary. The man, identified as Velluvakkandi Pavithran from Pachapoika in Kannur, had been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru earlier on Monday due to paralysis and severe respiratory complications.

Pavithran’s health had rapidly deteriorated despite being on ventilator support. By the evening, doctors informed his family that his condition was critical, and since there were no signs of improvement, life support would be withdrawn. After the withdrawal, hospital staff declared Pavithran dead, and his grieving family was notified. Preparations were made to transport his “body” back to his hometown.

The ambulance carrying Pavithran’s “body” departed Mangaluru around 6:30 pm on Monday. Upon reaching Kannur late that evening, the family decided to keep the body at the AKG Hospital morgue for the night due to the lateness of the hour. However, something miraculous happened around 11:30 pm when the ambulance arrived at the hospital. Jayan, a hospital attendant, and C. Arjunan, a relative, noticed subtle movements in Pavithran’s hand.

Acting swiftly, they alerted the hospital’s medical team, who conducted an immediate examination. To everyone’s shock, they confirmed that Pavithran was alive. The family, overwhelmed with relief and disbelief, immediately had him admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for further medical care. Doctors are now closely monitoring his condition.

Interestingly, news of Pavithran’s “death” had already been circulated, with some media outlets even reporting details about his passing and cremation plans. The unexpected twist has left many stunned, serving as a reminder of the unpredictability of life.

This extraordinary incident has garnered significant attention across Kerala, raising questions about the accuracy of death declarations and the importance of thorough examinations before pronouncing someone deceased. Pavithran’s family is now praying for his full recovery as he fights for his life in the ICU.
